Testo 872s Thermal Imaging Camera
The Testo 872s Thermal Imaging Camera provides high-quality thermal images and video footage using its 320 x 240 pixel thermal sensor. The camera uses non-contact infrared temperature measurement which goes from -30˚C to 650˚C with an accuracy of ±2˚C or 2%. Thermal sensitivity of 50mK means that temperature differences of just 0.06˚C are visible on screen. The camera is suitable for detecting mould, leaks, thermal bridges and overheating components as well as a whole host of other applications.
Images and video are shown on the Testo 872s’ vibrant screen which has a wide range of different colour palettes and two levels of digital zoom. On-screen area measurement provides useful information to the user alongside automatic hot/cold spot recognition. An integrated laser marker and digital camera take visual images to go alongside thermal images, thus facilitating easier analysis after inspections have been carried out.
ScaleAssist helps ensure that all thermal images and video taken with the Testo 872s are useful and usable by adjusting the scale to emphasise the temperature differences on screen. ɛ-Assist compensation for emissivity is also performed automatically by using three supplied ɛ-markers to adjust for different surface types.
Bluetooth communication allows the Testo 872s to integrate quantitive information from the Testo 605i Thermohygrometer and 770-3 Clamp Meter into its thermal display in order to enable simpler analysis on the results of thermal inspections. Wireless communication via WLAN with tablets and smartphones (with the free Testo Thermography App on Android and iOS) allows the user’s smart device to act as a remote screen and enables other useful analysis functions.
Images and video can be stored on the Testo 872s’ 2.8GB internal memory and then transferred to a PC via the supplied USB cable. Pro software comes provided as standard to help the user interpret results whilst optional SuperResolution software can artificially boost resolution to 640 x 480 pixels.
The Testo 872s has IP54-rated sealed casing which means that is suitable for use outdoors whilst a four-hour battery life means that the user can undertake a detailed inspection without having to worry about recharging. Supplied accessories include a mains unit, a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, pro software, Testo ε-Markers, a calibration protocol and a case.
Testo 872s vs 872
The 872s has received a number of important upgrades over its predecessor model, the 872. In the latest ’s’ model, you will find an improved thermal sensitivity (60mK vs 50mK) and better user interface for a superior user experience. In addition to this, the visual camera megapixel count has increased from 3.1MP to 5.0MP, delivering clearer imagery.
